    • Doctor's note is required with diagnosis and compression gradient prescribed

Cheryl Macdonald Nursing Professional Corporation values infection prevention and control.

Good hand hygiene is performed throughout foot care sessions and the nurse wears a disposable KN95 mask.

Supplies such as tables, bottles, and foot rest, are sanitized with a hospital grade chemical Quato 44 in between clients.

One very important question to ask  your foot care provider, whether in a clinic, at a salon, or a home visit, is how their tools are reprocessed.  At your dental office for example, tools are likely reprocessed in an autoclave.

At Durham Foot Care Nurse, instruments are steam sterilized in an autoclave, like so:

- dirty instruments are placed in a bin labelled "soiled"
- instruments are firstly scrubbed with antibacterial soap
- secondly scrubbed with enzymatic Miltex foam
- thirdly sprayed with Miltex precleaner
- instruments are rinsed with distilled water between each wash
- finally Steam Sterilized in an Autoclave as per Public Health Standards for 30 minutes at 275 degrees Fahrenheit
- then a 30 minute dry heat cycle in sealable disposable pouches
- each package is then sealed, labelled, and recorded

The foot care nurse does not use shared nail polish, nor does she don or doff nail polish on clients, for hygienic reasons.

Foot soaks are provided in the client's own foot basin and towel.  The foot care nurse may provide the client their own basin which is sanitized with Quato 44 between use.

Current Department of Veterans Affairs Provider through Medavie Blue Cross, preferred Canada Life provider, as well as preferred GreenShield provider for foot care nursing sessions.

Cheryl, the foot care nurse would be honoured to work with you.
